I’m amused at academics fretting over how to stop students from cheating on papers they write. It’s simple – stop writing academic papers. Instead, do stuff that you simply cannot cheat on. Build architectural models of something. Perform a play or concert on stage. Produce and record a song. Write proposals for new ideas and projects, backed with facts and logic, targeted toward a specific audience (which is the point anyhow, right?). Have students write/develop/build real products. No need for Turn-it-In. And now they’ve actually learned something they can use in real life.
